Solar and wind power technologies are being increasingly used to power remote data acquisition systems. Modern data monitoring equipment can be highly efficient, which increases the viability of this type of system.

Due to the fact that most monitoring systems are running 24 hrs, 7 days per week, it is important that the data acquisition equipment can be powered from a DC source – ideally 12v or 24v nominal. This eliminates the need for inverters in the system, which would push the power consumption up substantially and therefore make the project less viable.

In a solar & wind powered data monitoring system, every watt counts – it is vital to select the most efficient equipment on the market, as power requirements do vary hugely from one device to another.
