12V Fogstar Drift Gen2 lithium (LiFePO4) batteries, from 230Ah to 668Ah. Each has a built-in smart BMS, active balancing, low-temperature heating, Bluetooth monitoring and a CAN port for Victron Cerbo GX. Up to 16 can be paralleled for more capacity.
What affects the 12V battery size you need?
There is no single right answer, because the battery you need depends on how and where you use it. These are the main things to think about:
- Daily use. The total energy your lights, fridge, pumps, electronics and any inverter use in a day, in watt hours (Wh).
- Reserve time. How many days you need to run with little or no charging. A weekend cabin needs far less than a home lived in all year.
- How you charge it. Solar panels give much less in a UK winter than in summer. A generator, wind turbine or alternator charging changes things again.
- Peak loads. Pumps, power tools and kettles draw heavy bursts through an inverter. These can decide the size as much as the daily total.
- Room to grow. If you may add loads or more batteries later, it is worth allowing for it now.
| Battery | Energy | Often chosen for |
| 230Ah | 2.9kWh | Campervans, boats, weekend cabins |
| 300Ah | 3.8kWh | Larger vans and small cabins |
| 334Ah | 4.3kWh | Cabins and workshops with an inverter |
| 460Ah | 5.9kWh | Off-grid cabins with larger loads |
| 628Ah and 668Ah | 8.0 to 8.6kWh | Large 12V banks |
Up to 16 batteries of the same size can be connected in parallel to increase capacity.
